The Cesta Yukpa Black is a unique artisanal basket that celebrates the collaboration between two rich Venezuelan indigenous traditions. Crafted initially by skilled Yukpa artisans from La Sierra de Perijá, Zulia, the process begins with the careful collection and preparation of caña brava palm. The Yukpa weavers shape and paint the structure before passing it on to Wayuu artisans, who add the final details using their traditional kaanás weaving techniques.

Curated by Nathalia Ojeda, this piece takes over 20 days to complete, blending the distinct artistry and cultural heritage of both communities.
